Preparing your own taxes can be a complex and daunting task and if you are not current on tax laws you could find yourself with more questions than answers. Even with the use of online tax software there is no substitute for an experienced tax professional. At Austin Financial we will prepare each individual and business tax return with close review ensuring that many overlooked deductions and credits are identified and applied. Each tax return will be reviewed for accuracy to minimize any risk of IRS audits. Returns will be filed electronically in most cases to avoid processing errors and to allow the tax payer to receive their return quicker.
Our fees for tax preparation are based on the complexity of the return and the time it takes to prepare and file it. We prefer to give you a flat fee prior to the preparation of the returns so there are no surprises when the work is completed. To do this, we will need to see the prior tax return that was filed and any details about major changes in the current tax year. If you are agreeable to the fee, we will have you sign our client application and disbursement form then we will get started on the work.
If you owe back child support or have an outstanding balance with the IRS or any other debt collector(s) you will be required to pay the preparation fee up front. We accept cash, cashiers check, money order, and electronic payments via Venmo, Zelle, CashApp or Apple Pay.
If you owe a debt to the government:
You must contact the specific federal agency or state you owe the money to. TOP (Treasury Offset Program) cannot make arrangements for you to pay off your debt, discuss your debt with you or refund your money. The TOP Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system at 800-304-3107 can tell you who to call.
Hearing impaired customers may use the Federal Relay Service by dialing 800-877-8339 to reach a Communications Assistant (CA) who will dial the toll free number.
Use the Where's My Refund tool or the IRS2Go mobile app to check your refund online. This is the fastest and easiest way to track your refund. The systems are updated once every 24 hours.
You can call the IRS to check on the status of your refund. However, IRS live phone assistance is extremely limited at this time. Wait times to speak with a representative can be long. But you can avoid the wait by using the automated phone system. Follow the message prompts when you call.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
